Cultural Limits to Consciousness
Join a discussion about the Cultural Limits to Consciousness ÃÂ- how our subconscious, conditioned beliefs limit our abilities to perceive and conceive of different versions of reality. How do we manage the inability to see beyond our current paradigm to creatively imagine something new? Given the currently converging trends of species extinction, climate change, economic melt down, violence and social and economic injustice, are there things we can do to collectively shift the current dream to something more sustainable? How can other means of knowing assist in the process? Traditional indigenous and shamanic beliefs and practices are getting attention as sources of possible answers to how global humanity can transform before it is too late. A brief, 5 minute video of the Pachamama Alliances Awakening the Dreamer Symposium will be presented, followed by a robust discussion period. Michael Harris is the owner of Harris Management Services, LLC, a sustainable design consulting and wellness coaching business. He is a licensed professional engineer with a background in renewable energy and energy efficiency. He is also a Certified Emotional Clearing Therapist, a wellness modality that works with the held energy of feelings and stuck patterns. Harris sees the integration of personal wellness and cultural awareness as the key to creating a sustainable world. Michael serves as the President of the Earth Charter Community of the Lower Valley (ECCoLoV), a 501c3 non-profit educational organization founded for the purpose of increasing the awareness of people about the framework of principles for sustainability provided by the Charter. This will be especially valuable as the structures of meaning we currently hold as a culture begin to breakdown and a new, healthier framework is needed. 6:30 at The TSETSE Gallery, 190 State Street, New London CT [masked]. $5 or greater donation requested, not required.
